In the past we shared them on this site using Community Server. Sharing them here had the advantage of having complete control over who could view our photos and how they could be viewed.

Since setting Community Server up on this site over 2 years ago, many new services have appeared that are very compelling.

Here are a few that I have been experimenting with lately:

Facebook – This social networking site makes it easy to share photos with many of our friends. Emily and I each have a separate profile with our own dedicated photo albums. This is great since we don’t have to do much to share our photos with friends and it is easy for them to discover them. If you haven’t already, add us to your friends on Facebook. I am looking out how we might integrate Facebook into this site in the future.

Live Mesh – I have been experimenting with sharing photos on Live Mesh as well. The nice thing about Live Mesh is that the photos are sync’d to your local hard drive without any real work on your part (other than initial setup). Plus, I can share full resolution pictures and video if I wish. The biggest unknown about using this service is the amount of bandwidth required (currently I am sharing about 3Gb of data which requires a lot of time to download for each person).

Live Photos – I have been testing this service (http://photos.live.com) this past week to see how we might use it in the future. Since the service expanded to support up to 25Gb of storage, this might be something we use soon.

I am also reviewing different solutions that we might use on this site. I want to use something that is simple to use that everyone might be interested in using. If you have an idea on how we might share photos, please let me know in email.

An all new EarpFamily.com Coming Soon

Over the next month or so, I will be working on a new EarpFamily.com.

In the mean time, you can still access the old EarpFamily.com at http://earpfamily.com/membersonly
